J-Rock Sunday: The Pillows

The band that got me into Japanese rock and one of the best live shows I’ve ever attended, The Pillows have been around for twenty years with 16 albums under their belt. While their newer work hasn’t been very impressive, their best songs can be found in the 2000 anime FLCL, widely considered one of the great animes of the last decade. One of the main reasons for this is the brilliant soundtrack, which includes “Ride on Shooting Star,” “I Think I Can,” “Blues Drive Monster,” “Little Busters,” “One Life,” and the below “Hybrid Rainbow.”
