Ghost Will Prove They Are Better Than Mastodon at the Brick

posted by MP Johnson

The popularity of the bands on the Heritage Hunter tour (How the hell do you hunt heritage?) is inversely proportional to the excitement the bands bring to the stage, which means you’ll be able to go home early on a Monday night when the tour stops at the Brick in Minneapolis.

I used to be really psyched about Mastodon, having discovered them when the rhythm section was in the far superior and painfully overlooked Today is the Day. Now that they’re firmly entrenched in their psychedelic shit metal phase, their shows have turned into endless yawnpocolypses.

When Ghost played Station 4, their pop music in the guise of metal would have kept my interest even if they weren’t dressed up as skullfaces and hoodbeasts (although I’m not going to deny that I enjoy that kind of shit immensely). I was in awe of their precision and power, and they bring a level of fun that Mastodon hasn’t provided for years.
