The Grand

With a cast that includes David Cross, Dennis Farina, Woody Harrelson, Michael McKean, Chris Parnell, ‘Tiny’ Lister, and Werner Herzog as The German, this new film from Incident At Loch Ness‘ Zak Penn was improvised with all of the actors playing in an actual poker tournament. It’s set for limited release on March 21.
Watch the trailer HERE.
Update (by Mojo Marshall): From watching the trailer I see there are quite a few poker stars in the movie including Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Gordon, Antonio “Magician” Esfandiari, Phil “Unabomber” Laak, and Gabe Kaplan.
And if anyone has watched Bravo’s Celebrity Poker you’d know that David Cross is a pretty good poker player. I’m interested to see how he fairs in this movie. Same goes for Curb Your Enthusiam’s Cheryl Hines.
Speaking of Cheryl, she had this rad quote about the film in New York Magazine describing Werner Herzog’s role:
What was the hardest scene to keep a straight face in?
When Werner Herzog goes crazy and starts to attack Chris Parnell, and Chris jumps up on the chair and starts squawking like a bird.
Is that still in there?
Yes.
Oh, good.
