The Animation Show 2008
posted by The Joe
Created by Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt, the fourth outing of the Animation Show will be touring around the country this summer.
Each year the Animation Show brings together the world’s greatest animated short films for one incredible program. In 2008 we’ll present a wild hybrid of great animation and live multimedia events for an all new Animation Show tour! Our goal is to introduce audiences to a movie going event the likes of which they’ve never experienced. Our approach to entertainment and immersive branding creates fresh, engaging and uniquely effecting sponsorship opportunities.
The line-up is partially listed on their website, with more films yet to be announced. Posted below are four of the featured shorts for your viewing pleasure.
Le Grand Content by Clemens Kogler and Karo Szmit
Mr. Schwartz, Mr. Hazen, and Mr. Horlocker by Stefan Muller
Unpaid Angry Hooker by Steve Dildarian
Usavich (vol. 1 - 5) by Satoshi Tomioka

The Animation Show 2008 opens in Minneapolis at the Lagoon Cinema on August 15.
UPDATE: Looks like Don Hertzfeldt is no longer part of the Animation Show. From wikipedia . . .
In a March 2008 entry in his blog, Hertzfeldt announced he had decided to leave The Animation Show, after having programmed (and contributing films to) three tours. No other details were provided. A fourth season of the program is due to be released in theaters in spring 2008, presumably with no involvement from him.
The fourth season’s programming, sans Hertzfeldt, has come under fire from the animation community for being “not the quality of programming that we’ve come to expect from the Animation Show”, particularly for the new inclusion of Flash Internet cartoons (”an aesthetic eyesore that’s more suited for online viewing than bigscreen theatrical exhibition”).
All Hertzfeldt had so say about the matter on his blog, on March 16: last week i decided it was time for me to part ways with the animation show. it’s been five years and three tours and some good memories. they have a new tour rolling through theaters this summer and i don’t know what will be in it but i encourage you to go check it out
Thanks to Jen for the heads-up.
