Roger Avary Apparently Still Making Movies

id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead recently spoke on the long-delayed Return to Castle Wolfenstein movie adaptation, which Rules of Attraction director Roger Avary was attached to write and direct a while back. Hollenshead said, “With the writer’s strike it took so long to get underway and Roger Avary, the writer, had a commitment that was in line before working the Wolfenstein stuff, but I’ve recently been in contact with Roger and he’s actually working on the script right now.

Interesting, as I thought Avary was in jail for manslaughter. I guess Hollenshead never touches on the subject, so maybe that’s where Avary’s writing the script. One would figure, though, that it’ll be difficult to direct the film from there.

For those not playing first-person shooter games in the mid-nineties, Castle Wolfenstein takes place in Nazi-occupied Europe where Army Ranger William “B.J.” Blazkowicz takes on the SS Paranormal Division. With a chain gun. The film is tentatively planned for 2010.
