New Atmosphere Record Debuts at No. 5 on Billboard Charts
posted by Mojo Marshall
Atmosphere’s newest album When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold has debuted at an impressive No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with 36,526 copies sold. It’s the highest both Atmosphere and their label Rhymesayers Entertainment have debuted on the chart.
CMJ reports, Atmosphere and their label engaged in several innovative marketing initiatives prior to the release of their new Shit, including releasing the free, online-only album, Strictly Leakage, creating the online question and answer video series, “Paint It Gold,” and instituting a ban on review copies in hopes of preventing the album’s online leak.
What’s Next?
Slug witty as ever replies, “What’s next for us? I dunno,” he says. “I guess this is where we fall the fuck off, right? Some poor decision making and some baby steps toward obsolete. I’m not sure really. Never been good at that whole, ‘Where do you see yourself in five years?’ game plan. We will probably make another album, tweak out some new ideas and sounds. Maybe Ant and myself can land roles as mechanics in the Fast And The Furious Part 5.”
