Minnesota Zoo Concert Series

The line-up for the 16th annual Music in the Zoo series, presented by Sue McLean & Associates has been announced. The 1500 person amphitheater at the Zoo is a great and intimate setting for outdoor concerts throughout the summer, albeit the uncomfortable wooden bleacher style seating. (I suggest you bring some sort of a cushion to sit on, ’cause after 3 hours, your tush is gonna hurt.) All concerts are rain or shine, and begin at 7:30 with a strict 10:30 curfew.

A cool tidbit not many people know is, your concert ticket for the night is your admission to the Zoo after 4pm for that day. You can head out early and check out all the exhibits until they close at 6pm. Lions and tigers and monkeys, OH MY!

As in past years, there are several ways to get tickets to your pick of concerts:

Zoo Season Packages: You can choose from 5 different packages ranging in price from $132-$164 with a group of 5 shows pre-chosen, based on genre. Tickets for the Season Packages are only available the week of May 9-16 starting at 10am only through Ticketmaster.

SRO Passes: A popular, and cheaper way to see the shows you want, is the Standing Room Only pass for $200. There are a limited number of SRO passes available, and they will go on sale May 16th at 10am through the Sue McLean website. This year there is a new defined area for the SRO pass holders to stand, located at the top of the Amphitheater. The pass allows you entrance to 10 shows, or bring a friend and have 2 punches on your card (2 punches is the max per show).

Good old fashioned, one at a time tickets: Monday, May 19th is the first day you can buy single tickets to the shows. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, or at the Electric Fetus. You can no longer buy pre-sale tickets at the zoo. If available, you can still purchase tickets at the zoo day of show.
