As the Coen Brothers’ next feature, A Serious Man, will be filming around the Twin Cities this Fall, casting call information popped up with information pertaining to the plot and characters.

The film will revolve around a Midwestern Jewish family in the late 60s. The roles the calls are being held for are Danny Gopnik (a boy preparing for his bar mitzvah), Sarah Gopnik (a typical teenager obsessed with getting a nose job) and Rabbi Marshak (a legendary, mystical rabbi at the synagogue).

There will be an open call for the kids’ roles May 4 at the Sabes Jewish Community Center in St. Louis Park from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those interested in the role of Rabbi Marshak can leave their name and contact number with casting director Rachel Tenner for private auditions at 818-684-3105 or at aseriousman@gmail.com, though it looks like the casting call deadline for this is today, May 3.

The Coens’ newest feature, Burn After Reading, opens September 12.
