While a far cry from his earlier, more brutal works like Videodrome and Dead Ringers, David Cronenberg’s continued evolution in style is still worth watching.
“Nominated for three Golden Globes, including Best Picture - Drama, Eastern Promises is a violent crime thriller starring Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts. In this well-acted crime story, Anna (Watts) is a midwife at a London hospital who delivers a baby where the teenage mother dies during childbirth. The mother leaves behind a diary, and Anna uses it to try to find the baby’s relatives.”
