Drunken Post: Bands I Used To Hate But Don’t Anymore

Drunken Post is a feature on Switchblade Comb wherein The Joe and RichmanVA get wasted and post nonsensical / non topical videos or musings at very early hours of the morning.
Awww shiiiit, son! The fourth White Russian is kickin’ in and ya know that means? That’s Riiiight. Drunken post time, bitches!
Tonight I’d like to talk about how much I hate current pop punk music. Wait, let me rephrase that. Current MAINSTREAM “pop punk” music. There’s plenty of real pop punk bands that I still enjoy, such as Off With Their Heads, Dear Landlord, Teenage Bottlerocket, Banner Pilot, Dead To Me, Rehasher, The Copyrights, and The Methadones, to name far too many. I’m not talking about them. I’m talking about All Time Low, Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship, Forever The Sickest Kids, and similar bands of that ilk. Bands that are so devoid of any soul or balls that they actually make me miss the bands I hated in the late nineties / early two thousands.
So I’d like to take this time to apologize to the following bands and songs for talking so much shit on them a few years back. Sorry dudes, I guess you weren’t as bad as I thought. Things have gotten much, much worse and I actually feel kinda nostalgic for y’alls.
Two additional things. I know I just posted a ukulele cover of my favorite Ataris song and then I put them on this list which may confuse you but I’ll quickly explain. The Ataris put out one awesome EP on Fat Wreck Chords and then kinda sucked for a while. Therefore they get to be on this short list.
Secondly, you may notice that I left some bands off this list, namely Blink-182 and MxPx. Why you ask? Simple. Those bands have always kicked ass, regardless of what anybody says about them.
The Ataris – “Boys of Summer”
My Chemical Romance – “Helena”
New Found Glory – “Understatement”
Brand New – “The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows”
Sugarcult – “Memory”
