the room

Not only does the Uptown Theatre have a boss that gets thrown through tables, but they’re also continuing the tradition of Thirst and Black Dynamite by bringing movies otherwise denied Twin Cities theatrical runs and nabbing them for midnight screenings! What are these movies? Glad you asked!

Big Fan

Patton Oswalt for the win! Paul Aufiero, a 35-year-old parking-garage attendant from Staten Island, is the self-described “world’s biggest New York Giants fan.

The new cult sensation makes its way to Minneapolis! Yes, I know Trash Film Debauchery played it in St. Paul already, but the Uptown is pulling a Rocky Horror and playing it once a month in the hope that it achieves the same following. Which it totally deserves. No synopsis does it justice, so watch some clips HERE and HERE.

My Personal Favorite Scene

Bronson
Fri & Sat, January 22-23
12:00 Midnight l $9

I’ve seen this already, and it’s easily one of the most entertaining films of 2009. A young man who was sentenced to 7 years on prison for robbing a post office ends up spending 30 years in solitary confinement. During this time, his own personality is supplanted by his alter ego, Charles Bronson.

Mystery Team

Derrick Comedy also for the win! A group of former Encyclopedia Brown-style child-detectives struggle to solve an adult mystery.
