The 5th Annual Backyard Film Fest, the most respectable film festival in the Twin Cities area, is currently looking for submissions. The fest takes place in Shoreview, MN and has free admittance to see the selected films and art. Plus, free beer.

For submitting films, there are no submission fees, paperwork, or content restriction. The entry date cut-off is July 1. Check HERE for more info.

This year is also the first to include art in the mix, as the surrounding surrounding forest will be turned into a gallery, with art displayed on tree trunks, branches, and dirt mounds.

I know one of the guys who runs this, and he said that the first year the festival has to start charging people admission is the year they stop putting it on. In a world where the majority of fests are run more for monetary gain than presentation of films, that’s really something special.
