One of my favorite records of 2006 was Tap Tap’s Lanzafame; a mostly solo project from the UK’s Thomas Sanders. Well Sanders is back with a proper full-band this time, Pete & The Pirates. They bring with them more of that fun indie-punk; similar in sound to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Wolf Parade, and at times Franz Ferdinand. Little Death was produced by Gareth Parton who’s worked in the past with The Go! Team and Foals. There’s not a bad track on the new album.

All Music Guide: Hailing from Reading, England, Pete and the Pirates make frenetic and thoughtful indie rock with a bent toward early-’80s post-punk. Featuring the talents of vocalist Tommy Sanders, bassist/vocalist Peter Cattermoul, guitarist David Thorpe, guitarist/vocalist Peter Hefferan, and drummer Jonny Sanders, Pete and the Pirates released their debut album, Little Death, in 2008.
