Danzig of the Week: “Father’s Grave” with Melissa Auf Der Maur

posted by MP Johnson

MP Johnson listens to a lot of Danzig. Plus, he needs his own weekly feature like all the other Switchblade Combers. So take heed, brain eaters, and enjoy this week’s dose of the demon.

For years, Danzig has teased fans with whispers of acoustic albums, country projects with Hank III and blues projects with Jerry Cantrell. Nothing has ever come to light. Instead, we get double-disc sets of lost tracks, many of which should have remained lost, and double live albums that sound worse than the bootlegs Danzig is notorious for freaking out over.

Then this duet with former Hole bassist Melissa auf der Maur comes out. Some simple guitar and the best vocals Danzig has recorded in fifteen fucking years. It makes me anxious for the day Danzig sets metal aside and lets his quiet side out.
