The 2010 Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival is scheduled for April 15 through the 30th, and they just started announcing their line-up! The first, Gods (Dioses), is part of the Global Lens series.

A wealthy industrialist’s working-class fiancée plunges into the extravagance of her lavish new life as her future stepchildren self-destruct in a series of desperate attempts to escape their privileged upbringing.

Our epic three part adventure has come to a fairly undramatic end. In the past month, my twitter followers have risen by six, my youtube videos have garnered 895 views, and I’ve sold one T-shirt. From these figures we can conclude that even though Tanaya Henry looks really hot wearing my shirt, it’s gonna take more than that to jump start my business. How much does it cost to hire a skywriter?

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities will be hosting numerous documentary film events the next two months, including Water for Mulobere, whose trailer is above.

This show will also feature a performance by the Hayor Bibimma African Dance Company and a filmmaker & student Q&A.

This past summer, a team of up-and-coming engineers helped bring clean drinking water to an African village. As part of an Engineers Without Borders project, the University of Minnesota student group implemented a solar-powered water supply system for an entire school and its surrounding community in Mulobere, Uganda. And Beth Anderson, the Institute on the Environment’s video producer, was there to capture the story on video.

There will also be two Minnesota documentary filmmakers on-hand as speakers at the University.

Ali Selim is the writer and director of the critically acclaimed independent film Sweet Land. He spent many years as a successful advertising commercial director before he began his film career. Selim has won multiple awards for his work in advertising, television, and film.
