“No One Said It Would Be Easy envelops viewers into the story and people behind Minnesota-based band, Cloud Cult. Serving as both an introduction and introspection meant for newcomers to the music and fans of the band alike, the film explores the emotional and philosophical underpinnings on which Cloud Cult was founded and continues to operate, namely those of love and hope.”

This year, Switchblade Comb booked a flight to San Diego to bring you, dear readers, the latest and greatest in Hollywood geek news this weekend at Comic Con!
DAY I
11:00 AM – I arrive in San Diego and spend literal hours in transit to the famous San Diego Best Western a mere two parking lots away from the city’s legendary Comic Con . . . only to find that they’ve lost my reservation! After much unpleasant arguing, I retreat miles further away to the closest Motel 6. While not the tip-top shape I imagined, they have waffles listed on their free Continental Breakfast list. Best Western deemed BULLSHIT. Motel 6 deemed WIN.
3:00 PM – Frustrated over said hotel fiasco, I retreat to a nearby liquor store where I find a rare, imported liquer called 99 Bananas. I am told that it’s Swedish. Very potent, and very banana-y. Sweden deemed WIN.
5:00 PM – Remarkably inebriated post-taste testing, I power walk to Comic Con and barge my way through with a coveted Press Badge. After it becomes apparent that the con doesn’t actually begin until Thursday, I plop myself down in the Anime Room to watch Inu Yasha like a deer watches headlights. The art of animation deemed BULLSHIT.
7:00 PM – In the course of schmoozing with a Krull cosplaying group, I somehow negotiate my own panel for Saturday celebrating the 20th anniversary of Weekend at Bernies. Weekend at Bernies deemed WIN. Weekend at Bernies 2 also deemed WIN.
Somewhere Around 9:00 PM – Passed out in a chair for hours, awoken by occasional whispered rumors of what’s to come. Big News: Lars Von Trier is apparently directing the long-awaited Everquest film?!? You heard it here first! Also, Comic News: Marvel’s bringing back Kaine for October’s Web of Spider-Man #1! Clone Saga is WIN.
More coverage later, kiddies, but it’s time to get back to my room. This guy needs waffles.

Ghostbusters has its 25th anniversary screening in Minneapolis at the Uptown Theatre on Saturday, August 1.

One of modern rock’s greatest icons is gone. Futoshi Abe, former guitarist for Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, has died of cancer at the age of forty-three. Along with Yusuke Chiba, Koji Ueno, and Kazuyuki Kuhara, Abe spent twelve years as a part of one of the world’s greatest rock bands, and his legacy will not soon be forgotten.

After 10 years, this decade’s (arguably) greatest comic finally comes to an end. From DC Comics Solicitations . . .
Tons of things have changed since writer Warren Ellis and artist John Cassaday began their long, strange trip into the bizarre underbelly of the WildStorm Universe, but one thing has stayed the same: Anticipation for this final issue of the critically acclaimed series remains gargantuan! Over a decade in the making, Planetary culminates in this spectacular, oversized adventure. Prepare for answers to be revealed as the enigmatic Elijah Snow has one last errand to run!
Featuring a stunning 3-piece wraparound gatefold cover drawn by Cassaday, Planetary #27 represents the end of an era and should not be missed!
Planetary #27 is out October 7.
