7:00 – The Brothers Bloom (at Block E)
Closing night film, with an after-party at 7 Sushi Lounge.
The Bloom brothers (Mark Ruffalo and Adrien Brody), con men extraordinaire who began as Dickensian orphans with nothing but their wits and each other, have long since perfected their art. Tired of the racket, the more sensitive Bloom wants to call it quits, and Stephen promises this will be their final act. In need of a mark to bankroll their operation, the boys focus on Penelope (Rachel Weisz), a quirky heiress based in exotic New Jersey. Enthralled by the thought of some action, she agrees to give them money, but only if they take her along on the job.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil opens at the Uptown Theatre on Friday, May 8.

Great week for releases, but this little unknown Criterion gem stands out with its fantastic cast and nihilistic plot.
Terence Stamp is Willie, a gangster’s henchman turned informer trying to live in peaceful hiding in a remote Spanish village. Sun-dappled bliss turns to nerve-racking suspense, however, when two hit men played by a soulless John Hurt and a youthful, loose-cannon Tim Roth come a-calling to bring Willie back for execution.

7:00 – The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle
Dory had a nice job in data management, but a poorly-timed freak-out sees him relieved of that and on the skids. He finds work cleaning buildings at night with a janitorial company, and its crew of freaks and weirdos. Enter the tainted cookies. One ill-advised snack and Dory and the rest of the crew are in for a wild and uncomfortable ride that leads to blue fish.
